House of Usher: a multi-media rock 'n' roll opera

Home > Fall 2018 > House of Usher: a multi-media rock 'n' roll opera

Event Information
A timeless re-telling of the Edgar Allen Poe story, The Fall of the House of Usher combines the classic 1928 film of the same name by Jean Epstein with modern opera, film-noir, and improvisation by musicians Anna Coogan and Tzar. The performance explores the place where film, theater, music, and storytelling collide. The neo-operatic score was originally written and performed for the Ithaca Fantastik Film Festival in 2015, and was then restaged at the Cherry Artspace in March 2018 in a new and exciting form, directed by Samuel Buggeln, who will restage the performance once again in Willard Straight Theatre, with theatrical lighting, a foley artist and an atmospheric set perfect for Halloween eve.
