|Featuring Ernst Lubitsch's silent comedy So This is Paris (1926)
With live piano accompaniment by Dr. Philip Carli!
Don some fancy duds (if the spirit moves you!) and join us for this fun-filled evening featuring a rare screening of a 35mm print of Ernst Lubitsch's pre-code silent comedy So This is Paris! The story of two pleasure-seeking young women who, unbeknownst to one another, end up taking a fancy to each other's husband, So This is Paris allowed German emigre Lubitsch to teach Hollywood a thing or two about sexy shenanigans. The film's highlight is a wildly extravagant party, featuring the first choreographed dance scene to appear in a film. The dance? The Charleston, of course!
The evening kicks off with a reception - featuring complimentary wine for all (of age) party-goers courtesy of Sparrow's Wine Legend--during which time Cornell Piano Society member Jonathan Burk will perform classic piano bar tunes while images of 1920s Paris grace the screen. Patrons can also enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres and desserts, courtesy of our friends at Word of Mouth Catering. Then, as patrons take their seats for the screening, we'll give away an array of fabulous door prizes!
